PHILOLOGY PATRAS
The Department of Philology of the University of Patras was founded in 1994 (E.D. 305/94, GOV. 163/4-10-1994) and received the first/s students during the academic year 1997-1998. The Department became independent management during the academic year 2001-2002.
Qualifications
Purpose
The main purpose of the Department is to serve the research, cultivating the fields it contains, and to equip the students with the necessary knowledge and skills to respond adequately to the modern requirements of the labour market.
The Department of Literature, it also aims to establish a range of interdisciplinary studies, by launching collaborations with scientists of various disciplines, other schools of the same or of other universities in Greece and abroad. This is a very extroverted Section that encourages communication, research synergies and the exchange of students/information and faculty/substances with major universities in other countries.
During the twenty-five years operation of the Department of Philology has to his credit many research and educational programs, conferences, workshops, summer schools, collaborations with distinguished/s scientists from all over the world, while a number of/s graduates/s continue their studies at major universities in Europe and America, or participate in research and educational programs of other universities or teach at universities in Greece and Europe. At the same time, the Department of Philology maintains cooperation with dozens of foreign universities and has high mobility at the level of both students/information and faculty/substances in the framework of the Socrates / Erasmus+
Structure
In the Department of Philology serve twenty-four (24) FACULTY members: nine (9) Teachers/seminars, six (6) Alternates/seminars Lecturers/seminars, and nine (9) Assistant (s)/Teachers/seminars.
In addition, the Department is staffed with five (5) members EDIP, and one (1) member of EIB, which support the didactic and laboratory training and research work.
