Studies in Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Literature

The Postgraduate Programme Studies in Classical, Byzantine and Modern Greek Literature operates in accordance with the provisions Greek Law 4485/2017.

The programme leads to the award of a Postgraduate Degree of Specialisation in one of the following specializations: 1. Classical Studies 2. Byzantine Philology 3. Modern Greek Philology

The maximum number of students admitted each year is forty (40), distributed as follows: up to fifteen (15) students in Classical Studies; up to ten (10) students in Byzantine Philology; up to fifteen (15) students in Modern Greek Philology.

The programme is open to graduates of Departments of Philology and other related Departments within the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Historical Studies (e.g. Departments of Theatre Studies, Philosophy, History and Anthropology) at Greek universities and equivalent recognized institutions abroad, as well as graduates of former Technological Educational Institutes (TEI).

The minimum duration of study is four (4) academic semesters, including the preparation of the Master’s Thesis, in accordance with the relevant legislation.

A total of 120 ECTS credits is required for the award of the Master’s Degree. Courses may be taught in Greek and/or English.

To complete the programme, students are required to: successfully complete six semester-long courses during the first three semesters (two courses in each semester); and successfully complete a Master’s Thesis during the fourth semester.
