Διάλεξη Καθηγητή Loren J. Samons II
Την Παρασκευή 17/10, 18.00-21.00 (Αίθουσα Συνελεύσεων), στο μεταπτυχιακό μάθημα της κ. Παπαχρυσοστόμου “Θουκυδίδης: Ιστοριογραφία και Πολιτικός Λόγος” θα δοθεί διαδικτυακή διάλεξη (στα αγγλικά) από τον διεθνώς καταξιωμένο κλασικό φιλόλογο, ιστορικό και μελετητή του Θουκυδίδη Καθηγητή Loren J. Samons II (Πανεπιστήμιο της Βοστόνης), με θέμα “Did Thucydides Change His Mind? The Origins, Composition and Structure of Thucydides’ History”. Οι επιμέρους παράμετροι που θα εξεταστούν είναι:
1. Relationship to Homer and war narratives.
2. Relationship to Ionian predecessors (including Herodotus?).
3. Approaching the work as unfinished.
4. What the state of the text tells us about composition.
5. What the unfinished nature and presumed composition can tell us about Thucydides’ views.
6. A potential example of Thucydides changing views over time.
