  1. An average undergraduate degree score of seven (7) or above
  2. An average score of 7.5 in specialisation courses

 

  • Specialisation courses are relevant to the areas of General, Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.

 

Selection criteria in percentages

Successful candidates are selected by the following criteria:

N.B.: The average score of undergraduate specialisation courses is calculated as follows:

  1. Interview: 35%
  2. Score in undergraduate specialisation courses
  • Minimum average score in undergraduate specialisation courses: 7.5/10
  • Specialisation courses are relevant to General, Theoretical and Applied Linguistics

 

  1. Foreign languages: 15% [English B2 and above 10%, second/third/fourth language: 5%]

 

  1. Average degree score: 7%

 

  • Minimum average score 6.5/10

 

  1. Successful undergraduate dissertation – other essays: 8%

 

  1. Research activity: 5%
  • Research activity may include independent research, and other qualifications, such as participation in research programmes, attending Summer Schools, participation in the Erasmus Programme etc.

Entry threshold: 60%

 

The above selection criteria do not apply to Greek or foreign I.K.Y. scholarship holders, who are individually assessed on the terms and conditions of their scholarship. The Postgraduate Programme accepts one additional student from the National Scholarship Institution (I.K.Y.), who succeeded in the postgraduate competition in a subject area relevant to the Postgraduate Programme and one foreign scholarship holder of the Greek State. Foreign SOCRATES/ERASMUS students may occasionally participate in the Programme.

 

If tutors in a Postgraduate Programme believe a successful candidate needs support in core subjects, they may request obligatory attention of required undergraduate courses, with the agreement and license of the Postgraduate Studies Committee.

Application materials include:

  1. Application form (available from the platform)

 

  1. Statement of interest, in which candidates will explain why they have chosen the specific programme.

 

  1. Curriculum Vitae

 

  1. Two letters of reference. If the candidate is a graduate from the Department of Philology at the University of Patras, they will name two members of teaching staff who have agreed to supply references.

 

  1. Copy of their degree certificate (with recognition from DOATAP for non-Greek universities)

 

  1. Transcript of Records

 

  1. Copy of undergraduate dissertation (if any) and electronic copies of publications

 

  1. English language degree certificate, at at least B2 level (if this is not available, candidates may be asked to sit a written examination)

 

  1. A photocopy of identity card or passport

In the event of application before their degree award ceremony, applicants can supply, along with other application materials, a certificate of study completion. They are obliged to supply their degree certificate as soon as it becomes available.
