: Linguistics
I am Associate Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Philology at the University of Patras, specializing in the description and comparison of linguistic systems through theoretical and experimental approaches. I graduated from the Department of Philology at the University of Patras and pursued further studies at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), where I obtained a Master’s degree in Linguistics with a scholarship from the George and Marie Vergottis Foundation. In 2012, I completed my PhD in Linguistics at the University of Patras. Since then, I have pursued a continuous academic career at universities in Greece and abroad, including Queen Mary University of London, where I held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship. I have been a faculty member at the University of Patras since 2021, initially as an Assistant Professor and, since September 2026, as an Associate Professor.
Throughout my academic and research career, I have maintained an active research profile both in Greece and internationally, with publications in scholarly journals and edited volumes, participation in international conferences, invited lectures, and research collaborations. As Principal Investigator, I have secured competitive research funding from the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, amounting to more than €330,000 in total. I continue to pursue an active programme of research and scholarly writing, including the preparation of a book on the syntax of Greek for the Cambridge Syntax Guides series published by Cambridge University Press, as well as review articles and encyclopaedia entries for the international academic publisher Brill.
Alongside my research activities, I have accumulated extensive experience in teaching, academic administration, and institutional service. I have taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervised and co-supervised doctoral dissertations and postgraduate theses, and undertaken a range of academic responsibilities at the University of Patras. My academic expertise has also been repeatedly sought by the European Commission and the Greek State Scholarships Foundation for the evaluation of research and educational proposals, as well as by international scholarly journals, academic publishers, and conferences for the peer review of scholarly work.
